Besides catching up with old friends or enjoying the company of new online friends, stalking, dating etc...there's more to social networking that meets the sites....
Therapy provides ways to express feelings, understand patterns of thinking, gain perspective on past and prevent events, set goals etc. Its basically a way of flushing out what's on your mind so you'll have clarity + sanity ℓoℓz(mental Detox) ...you can google up more about therapy.
When you're on a site, say facebook or twitter, you say what's on your mind(sometimes u just say silly or goofy stuff just fur the fun of it), but when you actually say what's on your mind, you open up in a way you don't open up in real life to your friends or family, because when you're talking in real life, you tend to hold back your real feelings or view about stuff cause u don't wanna be judged or sometimes you're just not in the mood to discuss with people who really know you; but online, you have this kinda freedom-to say your mind. You don't bother whether people respond to what you say or not: you're just expressing your feelings or thoughts...and when people respond or reply to what's on your mind, its like an added bonus. Some would comfort or be happy for you(depending on what u express), others would see reason with you and you'll feel sane or normal knowing there are people out there who feel the same as you do....some how, you'll find yourself relieved from the hurt or pain you're feeling once you say your thought online, and if its a wonderful feeling you're having then you'll still feel good sharing it with the world because sometimes keeping such a good feeling seems like its gonna consume you.
Now that's how therapy works sometimes....your therapist listens to you rant and then offers advice or ask you Questions. Little wonder lots of therapists are losing customers (patients iMean) to online communities...but iFind it a very interesting form of therapy.
Eida ways, when you use facebook, twitter etc for fun, addiction or stalking ℓoℓz, just have it at the back of ur mind that there are positive sides to networking and one of them is therapy.
Have fun with your online activities and keep it real.
