Gifts

Don't we all like gifts : birthday gifts, anniversary gifts, congratulatory gifts, wedding gifts...in what ever form or type a gift comes we just love receiving gifts.

We all know that gifts don't just drop down from the sky...we either buy them for someone or receive them from someone right?... Now the cruz of this blog boils down to two questions...

Would you like to be surprised with a gift
Or would you prefer to be part of the gift buying??

Puzzling question u may say...here are some answers from some of my bbm contacts...

#TeamSurprise .. "I like being surprised ...it shows the other person is thinking of me and made efforts to do something for me while I was not there. It feels like the ultimate indication of 'Thinking of You'."

#TeamInBetween "am not sure oooo, surprise can be fun but going means you can get exactly what you want. So I think going is better but a surprise is always welcome"

#TeamPartOfGiftBuying "People (in my experience) always get me gifts that I'm like, WHAT! How could u even think I would like that? IWanna be part of the gift buying jor!

#TeamSurprise "Surprises are breathtaking and overwhelming lol"

#TeamPartOfGiftBuying "most times I end up with this fake grin and I'm forced to do the whole ooohh how sweet and then give it out the next minute.=D. So unless I really know someone, I usually ask what u would like"

#TeamInBetween "people seldom get it right. But if they get it right its the most awesome thing"

#TeamSurprise I love surprises. The idea & thought behind it counts more than the gift itself. Yes,I'm cheesy like th
at"

#TeamPartOfGiftBuying "being part of the gift buying, cos my taste is out of this world..especially these days that people hardly surprise others"

#TeamSurprise "I love surprises ,I can b confused when I see a lot of beautiful things(ruwan ido thinz)"

#TeamPartOfGiftBuying "Would love to be part of d gift buying 'cause I hate surprises no matter how pleasant....and ill be able to choose what I want.. even in terms of color ,size, quality and so on...
I get upset wen am surprised*angry-smiley*"

#TeamInBetween "Am not good at picking out gifts ..So, if im the one receiving, i would like the person to use his/her discretion
But im the one giving, I wouldn't mind a little input from the receiver as to what he/she needs the best"

#TeamPartOfGiftBuying "I prefer being part of the gift buying cause i would choose what I don't already have and ill choose what I want"

#TeamSurprise "I wanna be surprised, cause I won't be expecting it,and if am part of the gift buying I might be a bit selfish or greedy"

#TeamPartOfGiftBuying "Surprises depends on the people buying them...People with bad taste/stingy people can really piss you off with their surprise gift..."

#TeamInBetween "Sometimes, people wont get what I want or my taste...for instance ,perfumes and wrist watches
Buuh if its stuff like ipad, a trip to Paris and all, I wont mind the surprise"

#TeamSurprise "Almost everyone loves surprises...and the feeling you get when you surprise someone with a gift or being part of the process"

Some of the responses were funny iMust say...either way..Here are some tips from me to help in getting a gift...

-Give gifts based on your relationship with the person:
You shouldn't buy a gift for you boss that could get you fired, get something to impress him :D,nd if a girl/guy isn't your spouse, boy/girlfriend,don't get a gift that would give the person a wrong idea.

-Give gifts based on occasion:
Marriage,birthday,annivassary,graduation,naming,promotion..etc

-Ask for help :
If you know the persons friends or family ,ask them for help so you could get to know what they like, what they have and what they don't have. They would be glad to help.

-Go the extra mile:
Do this only when you can comfortably afford it. Gift buying and giving should be a thing of joy and pleasure, but when you buy a gift that leaves you broke and sad afterwards that would defeat the whole aim.
Remember,its the thought that counts.

-Get something thoughtful:
If the person you're buying a gift for likes a particular color, shape,or thing, try nd get it if you can, cause it would mean that you've made an effort to know the person you're buying the gift for

-If its just a normal gift, its not so bad for you take the person with you to get the gift, but if its for that special someone or some very special occasion, trust me,surprise gift would be appreciated more..

Be that as it may, whether you're TeamSurprise , TeamInBetween or TeamPartOfGift buying...when you care so much about the person who bought you the gift..the taste, how expensive and the rest won't matter, you'll use your gift with pride and enjoy every bit of it...in the end,its the thought that would count !

Hope u enjoyed reading this :)...Have fun giving and receiving gifts.

  1. I am always greatful when I receive a gift. But my problem is d Thank You cards, is like i always don’t know what to say, so I end up saying the same thing over and over in every card, which makes me feel like I don’t sound genuinley greatful. I mean, I know my friends and family can’t see eachother’s cards, my response and wat so not. Any suggestions on how to make them feel more genuine?

  2. Ure not alone in this but u know what? Send me a gift nd you would learn from the thank you note ill send you ℓoℓz *just kidding*....well,the manner u say thank you doesn't really matter, just say something thoughtful, and sometimes, the big grin on your face or a warm hug with a simple thank you would suffice :)

  3. Lol yeah surprises and gifts are mutual "feats" connected in an array of mixed feelings (almost always happy ones). i can still remember a gift i received from someone who totally surprised me, ages ago, and till this day i thank the person for it (who has forgotten about it). it made me really happy.
